A few things to know.
Will it work on my Mac?
FluidFold requires macOS 15.2 or later and a MacBook with a hinge-angle sensor (supported models from 2019 onward). The app checks for the sensor in Settings. Desktop Macs and external displays do not have a lid to follow.
Why does it need Screen Recording permission?
macOS uses this permission to let FluidFold take a snapshot of your desktop when a fold begins. That snapshot is used to draw the effect on your Mac. Your screen is not recorded, saved, or uploaded.
Can it pause my music and videos?
Yes. Enable Pause media in Settings to pause supported media while folded and resume when you reopen the lid. Mute audio is a separate option. FluidFold only pauses media that was playing, and respects audio you had already muted.
Can I turn off the effect?
Click the screen or press Esc to dismiss the current fold until you reopen the lid. You can also disable FluidFold from the menu bar and choose the angle at which folding starts.
Is it really free and open source?
Completely. No subscription, license key, or account. The source is available on GitHub under GPL-3.0. Make it yours, contribute an improvement, or build your own version under the license terms.
